Monday’s Motivation

life is like a camera 11-2-14

Being someone that likes taking pictures, this quote spoke to me.

Life is a little like trying to get a great picture ~ It’s important to set priorities and stay focused on them.  Why waste time on what’s “out of focus”?  Something that’s not truly important.  How many shots will we get?

When we don’t get the shot we’re after ~ if we evaluate why, we can learn from the less than perfect shots, improve and become stronger.  At photography……and life.

How do we find out if we’ve improved, are stronger?  By taking another shot.  Never giving up.  Take shot after shot and one day……..You’ll get it!!

Thanks for visiting!

How was your Thanksgiving?

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!  Full of family, friends and yummy food.  :-)  I had a two parter this year.

Part #1 was at the Oregon Gardens in Silverton Oregon.  They have a lovely buffet on Thanksgiving.  This was the first time EVER we’d eaten out on Thanksgiving.  None of us felt up to hosting a big event this year so we decided to go out.  It was great for this year!  It was a mixture of kids, and extended family.  A great time!  Sorry I didn’t get a group picture.  :-(

My youngest was having a bit of a problem with us going out for Thanksgiving sooo he got on the phone and planned a long weekend at the cabin with his brother and sister for a late Thanksgiving dinner.  His brother and sister had been with the in-laws for Thanksgiving.  I thought it was sweet he wanted to all be together but it kinda defeated the purpose of a SIMPLE Thanksgiving.  But of course I wouldn’t have traded it for the world.

Part #2 at the cabin in Black Butte Ranch Oregon.

From the left, clockwise around the table – Jason (the organizer), Jason’s girlfriend Heather, Sam (belongs to Ryan and Bethany), Ryan, Joe (belongs to Ryan and Bethany), Bethany (Ryan’s wife), Bethany, Jeff (Bethany’s husband).  That’s a great bunch of kids that I couldn’t love anymore!

Little by little they headed home and Tuesday morning it was just Bethany and the boys with Ella and I.  We woke up to a little snow.  Have I told you…… it doesn’t take much snow to get me a little excited!  I LOVE snow.  The funny thing is – so does Ella!  More on that below.

Before the little boys and Bethany took off we went outside for a little photo shoot and to play in the snow for a few minutes.

I was hoping for a GREAT picture of the three of them.  This was the best one.  It’s ok.

Below is what was really going on during the photo shoot!

When I’m not quilting, designing or creating I love taking pictures.  I loved taking pictures as a kid on an old box camera that had been my grandparents.  I have albums of pictures I took as a kid.

I’ve never stopped taking pictures.  Boy have things changed over the years.  Today there are such fun programs and applications that can edit and enhance photos.  I’ve been playing around with one that’s available as an app for the ipad and also an online site that you can go to and play with your photos.  I love that I don’t have to download anything to my computer to use the product.

I took pictures this past weekend at a family gathering.  My daughter had a beautiful bouquet of yellow tulips on her table.  thought I’d show you the original and a few of the enhanced versions.

Here’s a link if you’d like to give it a try. pixlr-o-matic  Sometimes these little tweaks can really enhance a photo or add a little “umph” to an otherwise dull photo.

Hope these yellow tulips bring a little spring into your day!
