Monday’s Motivations

Sorry for the absence ~ Holidays, being out of town ….. lots kept me from posting.  But I’m back and ready to get back in the groove!  How are you?  How were your holidays?  Good I hope and looking forward to a new year.

As we begin a new year there’s lots of reflection and planning for the future.  Both are good but we can become obsessive about it.  Getting stuck in the past, which cannot be changed, accomplishes nothing.  Focusing all our attention on the future can absolutely rob you of the present.

I loved the way the quote above puts this.  Suggesting our looks back and forward are done in a healthy way.  We need to plant ourselves in the present, being grateful and living a life where we extend grace and love to ourselves and others.

I hope and pray as you enter 2016 that you are hopeful and expectant of a year full of Joy and Love.

Thanks for visiting!
Blessings ~
Terri

Forgiveness

forgiveness 2-2-15

Does the word forgiveness every sound like a dirty word to anyone else?  It’s so hard to remember, forgiveness has nothing to do with the other person and everything to do with ourselves.  We tell (I tell myself), they don’t deserve it they haven’t asked for it, they haven’t apologized…..

Really – if we/I want to be healthy and live life to the fullest, it doesn’t matter.  What matters is that we/I can find it in my heart to forgive the offender and his/her actions.  THAT’S REALLY HARD!!  I have definitely been wronged in my life.  Just when I think I’ve forgiven, something comes up to make me question, “Have I really”?

Something a pastor said in a sermon one Sunday has really stuck with me.  The sermon was on Forgiveness and he was talking about what forgiveness looks like.  Hmmmm, it’s one thing to say you’ve forgiven someone but do your/my thoughts and actions prove it?  He said one indication that you’ve truly forgiven someone is that you care about their wellbeing and wish them well.  I guess that would be one outcome of true forgiveness.  So is peace in your heart.

When you’ve been hurt to the core by someone, it’s devastating and takes time to recover and work through those feelings and then figure out what to do with them.  Forgiveness is the answer to healing.  Holding the anger and bitterness in your heart will only destroy your heart, it won’t right the wrong or make things all better.  Forgiveness allows you to go on and live life to the fullest.  I choose to live life to the fullest!   I’m not going to let someone elses actions stop me from doing that – how about you?
