What is HOME to you?
I love this quote by Nate Berkus . That is exactly what I want my home to be. Having just moved about 9 months ago, I don’t feel like I’m all the way there yet. I’m always “fiddling” with my house. I always have. I think my home would tell you - about those I love (in pictures), that I’m a Christian (I love crosses, scripture references in prints displayed, devotionals on the end/coffee tables, the music I play), I’m a quilter (quilts of course), I love the freshness of flowers, I like sweets (candy bowl that’s always full) and I hope my house says WELCOME and be COMFORTABLE. I think I need to work a little more on that.
There’s no such thing as a perfect home. My home hasn’t always been just as I’d like it. I don’t spend big dollars very often on furnishings because I like to change them so often. I mostly buy second hand. I love a cute little table that’s been painted and shows that it’s had a life already. Right now I’m into milk glass which I pick up at second hand stores. The white makes it so versatile. I throw flowers in them, set them in a collection all together, use them for holding things, they’re just a great backdrop for most anything. I put my pictures in old frames I’ve had or picked up at the Goodwill, give them a fresh coat of paint and it’s something “new”.
I try and do a little something to change things up, fairly often. Nothing big, maybe hang something in a new spot, bring out a few seasonal decorations, throw some primroses in milk glass in the kitchen window. These little things brighten my day and make me love my home.
What about you? Do you love your home? Is it YOU? The perfect home for you is what Nate talks about above. Does it tell who you are? Is it a collection of what you love? If not, do a little tweak to make it feel more like you. You may not have to spend any money, just brighten up a corner with some things you love and get rid of what you don’t. Let your home evolve and become more and more YOU!!
Have a GREAT week!! Love your HOME!
Thanks for visiting!
