Monday’s Motivation

Rain, rain go away……… we’re about to float away around here!

Even though rain gets old and for most of us we’d much rather have a day filled with sunshine – it’s necessary.  Rain makes everything grow.  It makes the grass greener, the flowers prettier and plants healthier.

It also makes US stronger.  If we allow them, the storms of life will make us stronger, more compassionate, and teach us lessons we can’t learn when everything is “sunny”.  When you’re in the midst of the storm remember, sunshine is on the horizon.  The rain will end and you’ll be stronger for going through the storm.

Monday’s Motivation

Happy Monday Morning everybody!  Hope your week’s off to a great start!

Has anyone ever said something mean to you?  I think we’ve all experienced this before.  Did you take it personally?  Did you believe them?  Maybe you argued or sulked – talked about it to someone else……….

What they say

I love this quote.  It’s something I’ve been thinking about lately.  What someone says, chooses to talk about, focus on, is a reflection of them.

When someone lashes out or attacks verbally there’s usually much more going on than just that situation.  Sometimes there’s something else they should’ve dealt with that is coming out.  Maybe they don’t feel so great about themselves, so they’re trying to bring you down along with them.  They may just be having a bad day.

The message here is to only take responsibility for what you’re truly responsible for.  Move on realizing that it’s their problem and don’t hang onto what was said.

The flip-side of this is if something comes out of our mouth that is less than lovely maybe we need to do a little soul searching.

Have a week full of happy talk!!

Feeling a little Melancholy

As most of you know by now, I’m moving.  My residence and business.  While I’m SUPER excited, there’s a little sadness in leaving my studio.  I opened the studio 3 1/2 years ago and it’s been so great!  I guess I just hope the new studio will be as great.  I don’t mean the physical place itself but the feeling, relationships, atmosphere……..

Of course it will be!!  It’s all about the people and I have the BEST QUILTERS out there coming to the studio!  I can’t wait to be all set up and holding classes in the new studio.  We’ll have lots more space.  It’ll be great!

The picture above is one side of the studio.  One of my favorite times in the studio is when these tables are COVERED with machines, fabric and supplies early on a Saturday morning before the students come back to sew for the day at a Sleep in Your Own Bed Retreat.  It’s such a symbol of what goes on here.  The sharing of projects, ideas, compliments and life.  Joy and sadness, laughter and tears.  It all happens when we get together and trust each other.

Back to the move ~ last week my cabinet guy came out and unassembled some built ins we are moving to the new studio.  I quickly took some pictures of the studio before it was disassembled and packed up.  Those of you who come take classes there know full well what it looks like but here goes ~

Here’s the built ins, installed in the new studio.  They look great.  This will be a work counter and on each side there will be design walls for laying out quilts.  The frames pictured below are the frames for the design boards.

Fabric cabinets along the back wall and another counter on the opposite side of the kitchen wall.  We’ll use this for display and serving food.

The new classroom tables are ready to be delivered and we’ll be moving the rest of the studio over in the next week in a half or so.  Classes begin in the new studio with April classes.
