Monday’s Motivation

Happy Monday morning!  Hope you had a great weekend.  We had a fun class in the studio Saturday, my eldest son was here for the weekend and I enjoyed piecing the first block of the “Hot Cocoa” Block of the Month block we’ll be making Monday.  It’s fun to work on a different type of project!

Hope this motivates you to start each day fresh and new.  Leave the past in the past and give yourself permission to start anew.

Retreat Fun!

It was retreat weekend in the studio.  I love retreat weekend!  It’s a long Friday evening and all day Saturday of quilting, laughing, friendship and yummy food.  It makes me happy to have a room full of quilters enjoying themselves, relaxing and creating.

I thought you might like a peek at some of the projects that were being worked on.

First is Shirley’s Exploding Pineapple pillow top.  Love the colors!  There’s a free copy of this pattern HERE.

Here’s a post on a class we did on these with lots of other pillows to look at.

There’s a couple design boards around that can be leaned up against the wall for designing on.  Mary was laying out her original design using the wonderful Glamour Girls fabric.

One thing that’s so great about quilting with a group is what we learn from each other.  Here Mary, and Shirley are working with Sue on laying out her Schnibbles quilt.

Charlotte was laying out her Schnibbles quilt on the cutting counter.  Working out her border.

Julie finished her Cabin Play quilt top and has her snuggly flannel back all ready for quilting.

Jeanie worked on these cute little bags.

Sandy worked on her Ruthie Ann.  Love that Esprit de Noel from French General.

It was as beautiful sunny day so Ella spent the afternoon in the backyard.  She spent a lot of her time at the studio window hoping, just hoping someone would come out and play ball with her.  Or better yet, let her in to play with the quilters.  They came to see her anyway, didn’t they?  She thinks quilters are the best.  Her favorite place is in the studio when it’s full of students.

That’s a little peek into the start of our weekend.  What a great start!  Have a good one.

Monday’s Motivation

gratitude

I know, I know, I’ve been on a bit of a” Gratitude soap box” lately but I’ve come to realize in the last few years how IMPORTANT it is and the affect it can have on our day to day living.  Living with a grateful heart changes everything.

That’s it – all I’m going to say (since the print above says it all).  We’ll talk about other things on Mondays now!  Thanks for hangin’ in there with me!

Ruthie Ann on parade!

Ruthie Ann, a jelly roll quilt, was designed quite a few years ago and continues to be a favorite.  This pattern more than any other has been the pattern that people tell me they’ve made over and over again. We have a new version and a student brought by her version so I thought it was time for a parade of Ruthie Ann’s!

First – Ruthie Ann made with Aspen Frost by Basic Grey from Moda.  isn’t it great?  We have kits available of this as well as the French General version down further in this post.

A student brought this lovely quilt to class this week and I thought you needed to see it.  It’s a full size for her guest bedroom.  What a cheerful quilt!

This was the original Ruthie Ann that I made when designing the quilt.  I still love it.  I’m a pastel gal and think it’s just so fun!

The next quilts are quilts that were made while testing the pattern.

Love this cheery version in scrappy black and yellow.

Ruthie Ann was named after my grandma who always encouraged me in my quilting endeavors and loved seeing my creations.  Love you grandma!!

Thanks for watching the parade!
